What I'm Reading: THE NEIGHBORS ARE WATCHING by Aggie Blum Thompson
A psychological thriller set in an affluent neighborhood full of secrets
Aggie Blum Thompson’s psychological thriller, told from two points of view and set in the upscale suburb of Eastbrook Bethesda, follows four families whose children are about to leave their picture-perfect, privileged nests. But there’s more brewing here than empty-nest syndrome. There’s the usual elite college acceptance drama, along with petty grievances about building codes. Sprinkle in some heavy drinking just to confuse matters. And dangerous secrets abound. Not the least of which is the unsolved murder of a nanny living in a much-reviled rented home.
Thompson has woven a tight plot with a final twist that left me wondering how I hadn’t seen it coming.
