What I'm Reading
A cozy mystery with a heavy does of romance
Definitely Maybe Not a Detective by Sarah Fox
Sarah Fox’s latest mashup of cozy mystery and romance is an enjoyable romp. Emersyn Gray is nursing heartbreak and anger at the betrayal of her ex-boyfriend who swindled her out of her savings. Now, facing unemployment while trying to single parent her orphan niece, she has to get creative. At the suggestion of her best friend, she creates a fake detective agency to scare her ex into returning her money. But the fake agency starts attracting real clients when the superintendent of Emersyn’s building is murdered. Everything gets even more complicated when the attractive man who keeps turning up coincidentally shares the name of her fake detective agency. Now he insists on working with her, although she’s not sure she trusts him.
Despite a set up that strains credulity, Fox has written a fun, fast-paced mystery with a heavy dose of romance that is sure to entertain.
