What I'm Reading
A character-driven suspense novel about close female friendships
Watch Us Fall by Christina Kovac
As a serious winter storm threatens Washington, DC, a well-known political heir disappears, and a group of four college friends find themselves at the center of the investigation. Lucy and her three housemates are living in a rundown house in the heart of Georgetown, their lives brimming with promise. But secrets and lies quickly surface that tear them apart as the police close in.
This was a gripping read. Kovac made perfect use of the storm to highlight the main character’s growing isolation. Watch Us Fall perfectly navigates between deep character analysis, particularly the dynamics that drive close friend groups, and suspense over a missing person. With satisfying twists and a resonant ending, Kovac has written a stellar novel.
Thank you to Simon & Schuster and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy.
Watch Us Fall is out December 2, 2025.
What are some of your favorite suspense stories about friends? I am linking some recent reviews about close friendships gone wrong. I love reading stories like that because my friends are terribly boring by comparison (thankfully!)
When an old friend returns with devastating news…and a plan.
New neighbors, old secrets
Old rivalries can be murder at the Olympics
Secret societies must have secrets
A girl band rocketing up the charts until their tour van goes careening off a cliff

Thank you for your review! (And I hear you, yes, my real life friends are boring too)
Haha! Best to save the drama for fiction!
